A 1956 Cesna 182 owned by the Rock River Sky Dive Company went down in the Rock River at Lowell Park in Dixon.
Lee County Sheriff’s department says the plane developed engine problems over the water in the midst of some stunts, hit a power line, and then took a nosedive into the water. The pilot, 34-year-old Joey Lee Frey of Dixon was the only one in the plane and managed to escape when the plane submerged.
He was not injured. The Sheriff's department says the plane had engine problems and the FAA continues to investigate.
