Prosecutors in Rockford say they've responded to a request for a new trial for William Buck, who was convicted in the shooting death of a Rockford police detective.
Buck's attorneys earlier this month filed a motion that listed 53 reasons why Buck deserves a new trial. And prosecutors Tuesday responded to each of those reasons.
Prosecutors argue that a new trial is not needed because the trial court made the right decision on all of the issues the defense attorneys raised.
Both sides are to be in court Friday to argue their motions.
Buck is scheduled to be sentenced May 16. The 21-year-old is expected to get 20 to 60 years in prison.
