UPDATE: On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, along with Officers from Rockford Illinois Police Department, arrested Emeterio Acosta at a residence in Rockford. Acosta was arrested on a warrant issued by the Rock County District Attorney’s Office, for charges of Hit and Run Causing Great Bodily Harm (Felony) and Hit and Run Injury (Felony). Acosta is currently in the Winnebago, IL County Jail.
In the early morning hours on Sunday, May 12, 2013, Rock County sheriffs responded to a rollover crash that injured three occupants on E. CTH O and I-90.
On arrival, one person was found unresponsive in the road, one person was found just outside the vehicle and a third still inside the vehicle. The driver fled the scene prior to emergency personnel arrival. The injured occupants were all under the age of 18, with one of them in critical condition and the others being treated and released. Acosta was identified as the driver.
Early this morning, police responded to a single vehicle rollover crash that injured three occupants, on E. CTH O and I-90....including two who had been ejected from the car ejected.
Officers found one subject was found unresponsive in the roadway, one subject found just outside the vehicle, and a third still inside the vehicle. The driver fled the scene prior to Emergency Personnel’s arrival.
The injured occupants were all under the age of 18, with one of them in critical condition and the others being treated and released.
The investigation at the scene showed that the vehicle involved was a 2000 Plymouth Neon, and that it was traveling westbound on E. CTH O approaching the I-90 overpass.
The Neon left the roadway, over corrected and rolled over once onto the roadway, ejecting one of the rear passengers, before it landed upright.
A person of interest, as being the driver, is an Emeterio Acosta, age 23, of Janesville. Acosta is wanted for questioning reference this crash.

The roadway was closed for about 4 hours while the crash was being investigated. Alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor in this crash.
