ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Some people took to the sidewalks this morning to walk the stations of the cross through the city in honor of Good Friday.
Led by Rockford Urban Ministries, Dozens of people traveled around Rockford to pray for the city. The annual Good Friday Walk for Justice saw members from different churches hoist the wooden cross and lead the group in prayer. The group prayed at locations that help the community and the needy the most.
"It's so often that many of us have love in our hearts, we have a wonderful life, but we have to learn to share it with the community as a whole and this is one way at least of sharing the prayers that we have for the places that work with those that need God's love the most,” said Stanley Campbell with Rockford Urban Ministries.
Stops included the public safety building and the RMTD bus station. This is the 29th year doing this Good Friday walk.
