No one was injured yesterday when the rear car of the train came off the track. The westbound train had 191 passengers and crew aboard.
The derailment knocked down an overhead signal, and the debris blocked both tracks. The train was allowed to continue on its trip after the last two cars were unhitched.
Those cars were put back on track and taken to a rail yard for examination by Amtrak in an effort to determine the cause of the derailment.
Train traffic has resumed on one of the rail lines, while repairs are ongoing on the other.
