The State of Illinois announced new funding so thousands more uninsured women can get free screenings and treatment for breast and cervical cancer.
With the money the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) has raised the federal poverty line so more women in Illinois are included. IBCCP currently offers free mammograms, breast exams, pelvic exams and Pap tests to women at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) ($40,000 for a family of 4).
The Governor’s expansion raises the income threshold to 250 percent of the FPL ($50,000 for a family of 4).
A Women's Health-Line has been set up at 888-522-1282 or for TTY call 1-800-547-0466. Additional information can be found on the State of Illinois Web site at www.idph.state.il.us.
