A Stephenson County man is outraged after his American flag was stolen off the side of his home.
Less than a week ago, Marc Gonzalez hung a large American flag from the side his Davis Illinois home. A display neighbors enjoyed and Gonzales took pride in.
"With a friend of mine in the military I hung up the flag to support him," said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez says around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night his dogs started barking and he heard noises outside. When he went out the door, he heard a car door slam and saw a vehicle drive off. Then, he noticed his spotlight was no longer lit up and the flag passed down from his grandfather was missing.
"So many questions are running through my mind. Why would somebody do something like this, at this time and this day and age with our country at war. Why would you steal an American flag?" Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez reported the incident to police and believes it was teens that stole the flag, pulling a prank. Gonzalez is hoping the thieves will turn the flag, and he's going to keep doing all he can to get it back.
For now the spotlight no longer illuminates Gonzalez's American flag, but his spirit and patriotism shines on.
