A bomb threat in Caledonia gave some residents quite a scare Wednesday night, and caused some of them to be evacuated from their homes.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department got a call that there was a suspicious device on Ashfield Road. Police found an object that appeared to be a bomb. It was attached to a house under construction.
Residents evacuated their homes while the Winnebago County Bomb Squad investigated the device. The squad intentionally detonated the device. There was little damage and it was not considered to be a valid explosive.
