ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford police say three boys, ages 7, 8, and 10 were charged with burglary after allegedly breaking in to McIntosh Elementary School.

Police say just after 7 p.m. on August 31, they responded to an intrusion alarm at McIntosh. When they arrived they found that the glass window on one of the doors had been broken. Inside the school, the suspects ransacked three rooms, damaging items, smearing paint inside the classrooms, and causing over $1,500 in damages. Six kids were said to be in the area behind the school before police arrived, but nobody was found inside.

Just after 6:30 p.m. on September 1, officers were dispatched to the school for another intrusion alarm. When officers arrived they found bicycles outside the same door that had been broken into the day before. Three kids exited the school and were taken into custody. Investigators found that items in the library and cafeteria had been taken, and found cafeteria items in one of the kid's backpacks when he was taken into custody.

All three boys were charged with burglary, processed, and released to their parents.
