Immigrant rights have been a hot topic across the country, and certainly in Rockford recently. On the day dubbed as "National Day Without Immigrants" we anticipated a large gathering of people in Rockford. People showing their support for fair immigration laws, but it didn't happen.
A march was scheduled to start at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Streets around 2 p.m. on Monday, but it never happened.
Earlier in the day 10 busloads of people headed to Chicago to take part in their march, leaving very few in Rockford. Eventually, less than a dozen people showed up to join what they thought would be a large gathering, and found themselves to be the only ones.
