The flagship Marshall Field's store on State Street in Chicago will lose its historical name in September, but not its traditions.
That's the promise made Thursday by top executives from Field's new owner, Federated Department Stores.
The execs say the store will be renamed "Macy's at State Street," but they say they'll honor its legacy and keep many of its traditions alive.
Federated CEO Terry Lundgren says the store will be one of three Macy's flagships nationwide. He says his company plans to add new items at the store and improve service.
Some Illinoisans have been upset at the impending loss of the revered Marshall Field's name.
