Homeland Security

The needs created by increased homeland security continue to grow. There's so much demand for equipment and services related to security that the government is asking small business owners for help.

On Monday at EIGERlab several employees of the Department of Homeland Security told business owners about what they need. They told the businessmen how they could win government contracts and grants for their security businesses.

"We buy construction services, we buy security services, a wide variety of products including everything from office products to law enforcement gear," says Kevin Boshears of the Department of Homeland Security.

There are eight government agencies that contract with security businesses including FEMA, federal law enforcement and the U.S. Secret Service.

Go to www.dhs.gov for information on applying for government grants.
