Lt. Joe Frascati is living his dream. He has worked as an Illinois state police officer in Chicago since 1980.

"It's something I've always wanted to do. Even before I went to school I majored in criminal justice," says Frascati.

He is the new District 16 commander. The division includes Boone, Winnebago, Stephenson and Jo Daviess Counties. Lt. Frascati is taking over for Captain Hal Spence who retired in January.

"I've heard a lot of good things about the people here. A lot of them I know from over the years. I feel very honored and privileged the department is giving me the opportunity,"

Lt. Frascati is not planning any immediate changes in policing.

"I want to come in and learn about the district, learn about the people in the district and learn what they're doing," says Frascati.

His priority for state troopers is to promote traffic safety and lower the number of accidental fatalities in our area.

"We have an emphasis on underage drinking and driving. You don't want to focus just on enforcement, but also getting information out and education out."

Outside of work, Lt. Frascati say his family is his biggest accomplishment. He spends most of his free time with his two sons.
