Nordlof Center in Need of Roof Repairs

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Nordlof Center owned by the Rockford Library needs a new roof according to library trustees.

Library leaders say the rough winter combined with normal wear have played a huge role into why the roof is now leaky and the library will vote on a bid on Monday for a project to replace the entire roof.

The project is expected to cost under 65-thousand dollars but a large portion of that cost- roughly 35-thousand dollars worth- will be footed by the state through a grant.

"The roof is probably fifteen to twenty years old," says library trustee Paul Logli, "that's about the life of a flat roof in this part of the country."

The library says their portion of the cost will come out of their capital improvement budget.
