Unless you are in a gang, you certainly don’t want them in your neighborhood. But today several people on Belvidere's north side realized that gangs are around, and gang markings are now on their houses.
Gang graffiti was spray painted on three houses and one church in Belvidere Tuesday night. Just one block away from won of those houses is Lincoln Elementary School. Employees of the First United Methodist Church think they were targeted because the graffiti was put in a highly visible area. But it won’t be there for very long.
The church is having the vandalism sandblasted from the front of their building. First United Methodist is insured but unfortunately they will be forced to pay a one thousand dollar deductible for the graffiti removal.
