Many Uncontested Races Means Few Shake-ups in Legislature

Overall, the results aren't likely to change the dynamic much looking ahead to the November election.

Of more than 150 seats up for election in the Democrat-controlled Legislature, there are only 35 races today.

The attention is focused on Chicago's northern suburbs, where 87-year-old Republican Senator Adeline Geo-Karis of Zion is fighting valiantly against forced retirement.

And several other legislators who have been in their seats just a short time face strong challenges, while some lawmakers are involved in battles among local political rivals.
