ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford detectives are investigating the city's fourth murder of 2014.
Family members of 46-year-old Robert O'Hern say they'll remember him as a huge Chicago Bears fan who loved spending time at the lake trying to reel in supper. A neighbor says he found O'Hern's body around 8:30am Sunday in the alley behind his home in the 3200 block of Parkside Avenue. The Winnebago County Coroner reports that O'Hern died due to multiple gunshot wounds, including at least one shot to the head . A few neighbors say they heard sounds similar to gunshots after midnight.
"My wife did hear it at about 12:28 am but she said it sounded like someone slamming something so she didn’t go out to investigate, which wouldn’t have been smart anyways," says neighbor William Von Glockner.
O'Hern's sister provided 23 News with family photos of when he walked her down the aisle in 2011. His family says he leaves behind two sons and they all hope police will catch his killer quickly.
Investigators are still looking for suspects and investigating a motive.
