UPDATE: Woman Killed After Leaving Car Stuck in 11th St. Median

UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The investigation continues in a fatal accident on Rockford’s southeast side.

Police say 50-year-old Gladys Aguayo had gotten stuck in a snow bank in the 3800 block of 11th Street late Saturday night. She had stepped out to check her vehicle when she was struck by a Jeep Cherokee.

The 35-year-old driver of the Jeep stayed on scene until police arrived.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The woman hit and killed by a car on 11th Street Saturday night has been identified.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office says Gladys Aguayo, 50, was pronounced dead at 11:50pm.

Rockford Police say Aguayo’s car slid off the road into a median in the 3800 block of 11th Street. Investigators say she got out of her car and was either standing or walking in the road when a vehicle traveling south on 11th street hit her.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
