It's only March 3, but already Illinois has record-high gas prices for March.
The statewide average price is $1.70 a gallon.
Steve Nolan of AAA Chicago says the previous March record was $1.45 last year.
Record-setting prices this month come after the state posted all-time high prices for February because of the threat of war with Iraq.
A Triple-A Chicago survey shows today's prices range from a low of $1.58 a gallon in East St. Louis to a high of $1.76 a gallon in Chicago.
Nolan says prices likely will continue to fluctuate until there is a resolution regarding the situation with Iraq.
