Two child abduction attempts have Belvidere police on high alert.

Two child abduction attempts have Belvidere police on high alert. The first happened last Sunday. Police tell us a white male tried to lure a five year old into his blue pickup truck on 8th Street. The girl managed to get away and told her parents.
The girls describes him as:
White male
About 25 to 35 years old
Wearing a blue baseball style hat, blue long sleeve shirt with flames on the sleeves, and blue jeans
Then on Thursday another white male told a five year old boy riding his bike on Whitney Street his parent's wanted the suspect to pick him up. The suspect was driving a green pick-up truck.
Suspect description:
Skinny white male
About 50 years old
Wearing a baseball style hat, grey shirt and blue jeans
Grey hair and a grey trimmed beard

I agree that it is terrible that the public were not alerted of this immediately, and when I first heard that a man in a white van was trying to abduct children I honestly thought it was another joke about the popes visit. This really is a terrible occurence but what concerns me more is that child abduction and trafficking is common in Britain by Social Services but cannot get the publisity because of "gagging" laws by the Family Court who threaten parents with jail sentences if they attempt to go public. Children are taken and placed for forced adoption by the state on trivial grounds. I know Mums that have had their children taken because they themselves were abused as children and Social Services take their child on the grounds that they "may" abuse without any proof. So may I suggest to ALL parents in Britain to "always" be vigilant that your child may be snatched.
I am a mom of two little one's and it is sad to know that we find out what is going on week's late.As mom's and dad's we all should know this kind of stuff is going on first hand.The police need to let us know as soon as they know..
I am hosting a town meeting for tonight july 10th at 7 p.m for all concerned parents regarding these abduction attempts. Local law enforcement will be there to answer any questions and discard any rumors, also attending will be local media crews . everyone is welcome to attend and sign up for the neighborhood watch. thanks.
