Members from all faiths gather today to discuss the issues facing the Rockford community.
The Rockford Interfaith Council held its twenty third annual Mayor's Interfaith Thanksgiving Program this afternoon at Rockford College.
The council is made up of different leaders from the religious community. They take this time each year to share concerns about issues in the Rockford area.
"One of the things we hope that comes from this event and this opportunity, is to be able to see your neighbor not as the other but simply as your neighbor," said Reverend Christoper Pierson, who spoke at the event. "Someone that you can develop a friendship with, and a relationship with, and address common issues."
The different faith communities each led a unique one minute prayer during the ninety minute ceremony.
