International Activist Visits the Stateline

Famous political activist Angela Davis is often associated with the Black Panthers and black power politics of the late 1960's and early 1970's, but Friday night her lecture was an inspiration to people of all ages and races.

She challenged them to think a little more deeply about the meaning and spirit of black history. She says it time for us to think about more than black individuals, but rather the whole outlook towards liberty, equality, justice, and history.

Professor Davis is known internationally for her ongoing work to combat oppression, and has lectured in all 50 states including Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, and the former Soviet Union. But with so many accomplishments she says we still have a long ways to go in combating racism.

And in her ongoing efforts to fight racism, Professor Davis is the co-founder of the National Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression.
