They had taken many orders ahead of time, but Belvidere Motors was first able to let their customers sit behind the wheel of the Dodge Caliber this week.
In two days they have had about 40 test drives. The low starting cost attracts many first time buyers. Even customers who've been around the block once or twice seem to enjoy the hometown favorite. Twenty somethings to 70 somethings all took the Caliber for a spin in its first two days on the lot.
The Caliber also has a wide variety of standard and optional features including some that you may have never heard of. All models come with three glove boxes, one of which is cooled even when the heat is on. That “cooler” can hold up to four 24 oz. bottles. Another interesting feature includes the flip down rear speakers: convenient for tailgating.
Another odd feature includes an automatic transmission that never shifts and allows for a smoother ride.
Belvidere Motors general manager Gary Dixon believes the caliber buzz is bigger than that of the Neon when it first debuted. Only time will tell if the sales will out last the very popular Neon as well.
