ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Fire crews spent most of the night battling a massive blaze at a ComEd building that reduced the building to rubble. The call for the fire came in around 11:20 Saturday night.
The Rockford Fire Department says crews were worried about the building collapsing so they could only fight it from the outside. Crews were on the scene for five hours. The building is a total loss. No word yet on what caused the blaze.
ComEd spokesman Paul Callighan says company operations shouldn't be affected by the fire. The building was used to store tools and wire. At this point Callighan says the company hasn't decided whether to rebuild.
