ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The results are in and 23 WIFR is once again Illinois and Rockford’s most honored station by the Illinois Broadcasters Association. At a ceremony last night involving stations from throughout Illinois, 23 WIFR received twelve awards which was more than any other station competing in the “medium market” or non-Chicago category.
The Rockford CBS affiliate got the number one in the state awards for “Best Reporter” for the efforts of Meghan Dwyer and Creative Services Director Nick Schneider’s “Next Generation Winter Weather” promotion.
Additional news category awards went to Tina Stein and Lauren Kravets as “Best News Anchors;” Sports Director Scott Grodsky as “Best Sportscaster;” Tina Stein for “Best Investigative Reporting” and “Best Reporter;” and, the 23 News Team received recognition for “Best Newscast.”
Awards also were presented to the station for “Best Use of Interactive Media;” “Best TV Use of Graphic Design;” “Best Station Promotion” for Ice Hogs Move; and “Best Public Service Announcement” for Easter Seals Walk with Me.
These latest awards add to the accolades for 23 WIFR. Earlier this spring in downstate Illinois Associated Press Broadcasters Association competition when 23 News was again the most honored station in Rockford with four awards for Best Newscasts and three reporting categories.
