Ever since the Wight Partners applied to build the plant in Winnebago County, neighbors of the proposed sight have voiced strong opposition to the planned location.
On Thursday night a new group rallied outside the courthouse. Their message is clear. They want the ethanol plant built in Winnebago County - and they want it now.
The demonstrators brought their message to the county board meeting. Board members sent a special use permit regarding the plant back into committee. That means the county's zoning ordinance won't be changed for a few months.
But that may not matter because Wight Partners re-applied for zoning changes to the specific site. The land needs to be re-zoned from agricultural to heavy industrial for the plant to be built.
You might recall last month when they pulled plans after some wording issues. The re-application took the spotlight at the board meeting.
