STATELINE (WIFR) --The speed limit in Illinois will increase on many state highways in the New Year, but some lawmakers still have questions about the new law.
Starting January first, the speed limit will increase from 65 miles per hour to 70 miles per hour on most four lane divided highways. In the Stateline, that includes I-90, I-30 and Bypass 20. However, the measure allows several urban counties to set their own speeds. There’s been confusion over which roads those counties can set the speed limits. Lawmakers hope to hammer out the details during the veto session.
