Officials in Boone County are working hard to make sure everyone struggling financially in the area has somewhere to eat.
The Belvidere/Boone County Food Pantry kicked off their capital fund drive. It's a campaign to raise $200,000 to make sure the Capron pantry can support all the new residents looking for food assistance and there is a time crunch, they're hoping to raise these funds in the next two months in order to expand into the building next door.
If you recall, last week we told you Boone County landed itself on the poverty watch list for the state of Illinois. In 2007 the number of people living at or below the poverty level jumped to more than 4,000.
