Farmers Like President's Energy Initiative

Here in the Stateline ethanol is on a lot of people's minds. In his State of the Union address President Bush promised to increase research money for the use of ethanol.

That's welcome news to the president of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau. Earl Williams hopes the president's initiative will convince more people that ethanol is important to our local and national economy.

President Bush wants to make ethanol fuel practical and available to everyone in America within six years. That would make us less dependent on foreign oil, and put a lot of extra money in farmer's pockets. That's because ethanol is made up of mostly corn byproducts.
