Rock County Man Arrested After 3-Hour Police Standoff

ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) – Rock County investigators say it took hostage negotiators three hours to get an armed suspect to leave his home.

Sheriff’s deputies tell us 29-year-old Kevin Thiele threatened one of his parents with some sort of weapon and wouldn’t leave his home on West Hart Road. When officers arrived on scene, they realized two kids were inside and Thiele wouldn’t respond to any of their questions.

That’s when the SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called in. They finally got him out a little after five last night. Both kids were okay.

ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) -- A man has been arrested after a three-hour police standoff in Rock County.

According to the Rock County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a 911 call that had hung up in the 2200 block of East West Hart Road in Beloit Township before 2 p.m. Sunday. Deputies say 29-year-old Kevin R. Thiele had brandished a weapon during an argument with his parents. He was allegedly under the influence at the time.

Thiele would not communicate with police. With the assistance of several agencies, including the Rock County SWAT team, Thiele surrendered after 5 p.m. Two children were in the home at the time.

No injuries were reported. Thiele is being charged with disorderly conduct/domestic violence while armed, recklessly endangering safety and failure to comply with officer's attempt to take person into custody.
