ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Fire Department is trying to figure out if two fires that happened just blocks away from each other are connected.
The first happened at an apartment building on Irving Avenue. That was around 5a.m. Then around 6a.m. an abandoned house on Furman went up in flames. The fire department says the home was a total loss. The apartment fire caused about $15,000 in damage. No residents were affected.
Investigators say they're still looking into what caused both fires.
