2 Moms Arrested for Allegedly Leaving Kids in Hot Car

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- In the last two days the Rockford Police Department has arrested two mothers for endangering the life of their children for leaving them unattended inside locked cars with all the windows rolled up and the engine shut off.

On 8/28/13 at 5:17pm at Treasures Galore, 4320 Sandyhollow Road Rachel Stowe, W/F 22 years of age from Rockford left her two children, ages 2 years old and 1 year old in a locked car for 30 minutes while she shopped inside the store. The temperature was 87 Degrees and the heat index was 92 degrees

Today at 1:10 pm Officers arrested Zorana Bojanovic-Smith, W/F 41 years of age from Roscoe left her 23 month old child alone in a locked car with all the windows rolled up for 10 minutes. The temperature was 92 degrees with a heat index of 102 degrees at the time.

Both of these incidents were reported to the police by alert bystanders and none of the children required treatment at a medical facility.
