House Fire in Machesney Park Sparks Evacuations

UPDATE: MACHESNEY PARK (WIFR) – There is new information about the massive house fire that caused a dozen evacuations. We’re told the home-owners are returning from vacation to find their place destroyed.

The fire broke out just before 9:00 last night in the 700 Block of Ramona Terrace in Machesney Park. Firefighters quickly realized it was a gas fire and had to clear out most of the homes on the block. We’re told the flames started in the basement though investigators aren’t sure what caused the emergency. The red cross has stepped in to help the displaced family.

UPDATE: American Red Cross volunteers are responding to a home fire on the 700 block of Ramona Terrace in Machesney Park, Illinois. The team of Red Cross volunteers are helping coordinate assistance in the form of food, shelter, clothing and emotional support due to fire damage to the home.
