5 Fatalities In One Weekend

Over the course of the weekend, five people died and all the fatalities happened on area roadways.

The latest two fatalities happened at around 8 p.m. Saturday night. 21-year-old Aaron Bachman and his brother 15-year-old Daniel both of Winnebago were in one car. A Winnebago County Sheriff's Department officer and trainee were in the squad car. The two brothers died on scene. A third teen was in that car and was airlifted to an area hospital. The Sheriff's department workers were also transported to area hospitals. Alcohol is not suspected in this crash. An autopsy is set for Tuesday.

Flowers lay by the side of the road where 41-year-old Todd Ryland of Rockford died early Saturday morning. Ryland was struck when crossing the street in the 5800 of Kilburn Road. Initial reports from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department indicate alcohol was involved in this pedestrian death.

That last accident was at 6:40 a.m. the next fatal accident happened just an hour later. At around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday morning 18-year-old Amerika Morales of Roscoe was east bound on Elevator Road. Winnebago County Investigators say Morales lost control and struck a van. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The final fatality is a result of an accident that happened earlier in the week. This past Wednesday, 86-year-old Donald Personette of Oregon was involved in a car crash. Personette died Saturday at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
