The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says 4 out of 5 sport utility vehicles do not adequately protect passengers from whiplash in a rear-end collisions. Among the vehicles tested who ranked poorly was the Acura MDX and the BMW X3. Only the seats in the Ford Freestyle, Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover lR3, Subaru
Forester and the Volvo XC90 earned good overall ratings. None of the 15 pickup trucks tested offered good protection at all.
