MCHENRY COUNTY (WIFR) -- Just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2013, members of the Harvard Fire Protection District, REACT and McHenry County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene of a single vehicle crash that occurred within the 1800 block of North Illinois Route 23, in unincorporated Dunham Township, south of Harvard.
According to a preliminary investigation, it is believed that a 1996 Ford Explorer was headed southbound, within the 1800 block of North Illinois Route 23 when the vehicle left the east side of the roadway. The vehicle reentered the roadway and then exited to the west where the Ford rolled over sever times, coming to rest on its top.
Two of the passengers were ejected and one had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Eduardo Vivero, was transported to Woodstock Memorial Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The front passenger, Jose Gonzales, 20, was extricated from the vehicle and flown by REACT to Rockford Memorial Hospital and listed in critical condition.
Both rear passengers were ejected from the vehicle and were juveniles. The rear left side passenger, was transported to Woodstock Memorial Hospital and was later moved by ambulance to St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford due to his injuries. The rear right side passenger was originally sent to Harvard Hospital and later moved to Rockford Memorial due to his injuries. Both juveniles were listed in stable condition.
The accident is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
