Archeological Dig in Macktown

ROCKTON (WIFR) -- Historians are exploring Rockton's little known sister city from the ground up.

The Macktown Living History Center is performing an archeological dig to find another house's foundation.

This is the fourth year that the team has been unearthing parts of the 170 year old town in the forest preserve.

So far they have dug up foundations for the shoemaker and bed and breakfast, but are currently in search for the blacksmith.

Rochelle Lurie, Principal Investigator
"You just see how this landscape was used for over 8000 years and how it's being used today for educational purposes, I think that's pretty special, " says Rochelle Lurie.

The team is hoping to find the foundation of the blacksmith's house by the end of July.
