CHICAGO (AP) -- The Illinois Lottery plans to sponsor Fourth of July fireworks displays in five Illinois cities this year.
Lottery officials announced Monday that it'll sponsor fireworks shows in Rockford, Batavia, Champaign, Chicago and Harvey.
Harvey hasn't had a fireworks show in years because of a lack of money.
In a news release, Illinois Lottery Superintendent Michael Jones says Illinoisans deserve to experience "a spectacular fireworks show that reflects their patriotism."
The lottery's fireworks sponsorship also serves to promote its 4th of July Millionaire Raffle instant ticket game.
The fireworks will be Thursday night at Davis Park in Rockford.
