And while Rockford city leaders debate the city's future water system, heating costs are also on many residents minds.
Last month, we reported that nearly all appointments until January 1 were booked solid for LIHEAP, a state and federal heating assistance program. But there's some good news. Starting next week, slots will be available for eligible residents to get the heating help they need.
The appointments are open for residents who have their heat shut off or have heat but can't afford it. If you are interested to learn more about LIHEAP, call (815) 987-5711.
