Rockford School Board members are getting ready to present Superintendent Doctor Alan Brown with his annual evaluation. This will be his second review since taking over the district nearly two years ago.
Board members say he's done positive things for the district but there is also some room for improvement.
Each board member received a questionnaire with about 20 different areas to evaluate. Their answers were compiled and averaged. Tuesday night Brown will hear what his subordinates think of his performance.
Brown is evaluated on student performance, academic improvement and financial stability. With nearly 20 Rockford public schools on the academic watch list and testing problems, board members are striving to see progress.
But, no matter what Brown's evaluation says about his performance, for now he will most likely remain the leader of the district. Board members say they'll still look to him for guidance in the Rockford public school system.
Doctor Brown’s evaluation comes as rumor of his candidacy for Illinois' superintendent of schools. Board member's say Brown's long-term future in Rockford is uncertain.
