ROCKFORD (WIFR) – 16-year-old Michael Blue has been arrested for last month's shooting, which resulted in the death of 20-year-old Marcelles Gray.
The suspect was picked up by police in the 300 block of North Henrietta Avenue at around 2 a.m. on July 6th.

UPDATE: Last night’s shooting on 6th Street has now turned into a homicide.
20-year-old Marcelles Gray died this morning at the hospital. He was shot just before 9 last night outside a home at 1304 South Sixth Street. Neighbors say they saw a group of people standing outside the house just before the shooting. They say the group was quiet and it seemed like they were just hanging out.
“The neighbors are quiet, there’s not rowdiness, in fact, we heard no rowdiness last night from that house so it kind of surprised me,” said neighbor Pat Mandujano.
Police haven’t made any arrests and have no suspects at this time.

The Winnebago County Coroner tells us 20-year-old Marcelles Gray has died after suffering a gunshot wound.
An autopsy is pending by the Winnebago County Coroner's office.
The death is now under investigation by Rockford Police. We will continue to update you as we learn more.
UPDATE - A 20-year-old man remains in critical condition at a local hospital after a shooting in Rockford Tuesday night.
Police say just before 9 p.m., a shooting occurred in the 1300 block of South 6th Street.
The victim's identity is not being released yet until his family has been notified.
UPDATE: Rockford police say the shooting is still under investigation and more information will be released Wednesday by Investigative Services Bureau.
