Dixon Man Arrested After Firearms, 'Homemade' Ammunition Found

DIXON (WIFR) - A Dixon man has been arrested after police found several illegal firearms and other homemade contraband.

On Monday at 5:05 p.m., Dixon police searched 510 S. Lincoln Ave. to investigate into possible illegal possession of firearms and firearm ammunition charges. Officers found in a travel trailer on the property nine firearms, ammunition and cannabis plants. Police say they also found "homemade" silencers and Flechette shells meant to fire fin stabilized dart-type projectiles from a 12 gauge shotgun round.

32-year-old Jeramie J. Burmeister is being charged with unlawful use of weapons, unlawful use of firearm projectiles, possession of firearm without requisite owner's identification card, possession of firearm ammunition without requisite firearm owner's identification card and possession of cannabis sativa plant. He is currently being held in Lee County Jail.

Dixon police were assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Whiteside County Sheriff's Department.
