ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is implementing a Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA) as part of their RECAP Garden beginning in July, 2013. The RECAP Garden has been providing educational services to inmate participants and providing produce for area food pantries since 2005. Last year alone, the garden donated over 19,000 pounds of produce. The implementation of the CSA program will allow community members to buy shares of produce with the funds received going directly toward operational costs and future garden projects. Through donations and other funding sources, as well as the generous donation of time and resources by volunteers, and in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin Agriculture Extension, the garden has become an extremely successful program. The CSA program will allow further community support, involvement, and awareness while providing funds needed to continue the gardens invaluable service to the community.
Individuals wishing to participate in the CSA program can find the application on the Rock County website under the Sheriff’s Office-Community Corrections.
