Chrysler Wins Racial Discrimination Appeal

BELVIDERE (WIFR) – A local Chrysler worker who won a racial discrimination lawsuit, won’t be getting a huge chunk of money originally promised.

Last year, the 7th Circuit of Appeals ruled in Otto May’s favor, saying Chrysler didn’t do enough to protect him. The Cuban born Jew says his coworkers at the Belvidere Assembly Plant harassed him for years, but this week, the court overturned its decision and ruled May shouldn’t receive $3 Million in punitive damages. The $700,000 awarded for pain and suffering was reduced to $300,000.
