Rockton Village president Dale Adams hopes the vacant site of the former Wagon Wheel Resort will soon be bustling with economic activity.
On Tuesday night village trustees approved making the redevelopment area a tax increment financing district. This will give a price break to the new buyer of the property.
A man interested in redeveloping the site also laid out his plans for village trustees in a closed session Tuesday night. Adams says he hopes the developer will build an office park that includes a banquet hall.
It was expected the village board would sign a contract with the buyer during their session. But there are still a few minor details that need to be worked out. Adams expects the deal will be finalized within the next week or so, and he has high hopes for the site.
