Seventy-one-year-old Roger A. Ackerman was shot in the groin while hunting with two other hunters along Brush Creek Road.
Two members of the group fired at a moving deer. Conservation Police say Ackerman was out of sight on a hilltop behind the deer. Ackerman was hit with a 12 gauge deer slug.
It's unknown who shot him, since both hunters were firing at the same time. All the hunters were properly licensed and wearing the required blaze orange clothing. Ackerman was taken by private vehicle to the Monroe Emergency Clinic.
