The space shuttle Columbia disaster hit close to home.
Rockford astronaut Janice Voss was on board Columbia for two of her five shuttle missions. Janice still has a lot of family in Rockford.
Voss's aunt, Shirley Henley talked shortly after Saturday's tragedy. Henley can only imagine what the family members of the Columbia astronauts can be feeling, but she says she knows the anticipation those family members were feeling. She too has been waiting for the shuttles arrival at the Kennedy Space Center.
Henley says her niece is undoubtedly overcome with grief at the loss of seven fellow astronauts.
Henley says Voss is convinced NASA does all it can to ensure thee safety of all shuttle astronauts.
