Latino Caucus

There are more than 1.5 million Hispanics living in Illinois. One local advocate is working with Gov. Blagojevich to address the needs of immigrants when they move into our state.

The president of La Voz Latina, Marco Lenis, is part of the Latino caucus that met outside Chicago Thursday. Many members of the caucus are on new task forces formed by the governor to deal with education, employment, public policy, and health care.

Lenis says the goal of these councils is to make the transition of Hispanic immigrants into Illinois seamless. He says it can be difficult for people to adjust to life here when they have spent their whole lives in another country.
