2013 Spring Weight Postings

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- Due to annual freeze/thaw cycles, the roadways are beginning to soften up. The highway departments are now posting signs on roadways that wtemporarily restrict use from heavy trucks.

Winnebago COunty will be posting signs on roads under their jurisdiction that are affected by these restrictions. Typically spring road posting period is 4-6 weeks in duration.

Winnebago County will begin enforcement of spring weight on certain county roadways on Monday, March 11 ,2013.

The posted weight limits are:

Two axles vehicles with single rear tires -- 9,000 lbs

Two* axles vehicles with dual rear tires -- 20,000 lbs

Three* or more axles with dual rear tires -- 33,000 lbs

For school buses:

Two* axles with dual rear tires -- 25,000 lbs

For garbage haulers:

Two* axles with dual rear tires -- 25,000 lbs

Three* or more axles with dual rear tires -- 42,000 lbs

*Gross axle load -- 13,000 lbs
