JO DAVIESS (WIFR) -- The 2013 Jo Daviess County 4-H Fair is quickly approaching. Local 4-H’ers have submitted their entries and the judges have been secured. The 2013 4-H Fair, running from July 15-18 at the Elizabeth Community Fairgrounds, promises to deliver a great variety of projects from enthusiastic 4-H’ers.
The Fair will officially start on Monday, July 15th at 9:00 a.m. with the Horse Show. Monday will conclude with Cloverbud judging at 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, July 16th will begin with Flower Arranging and Floriculture judging at 8:00 a.m., General Projects judging at 8:30 a.m., followed by Visual Art and Photography judging at 11:30 a.m. We will end the day with the Poultry Show at 3:00 p.m. and the Rabbit Show at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, July 17th will begin with the Swine Show at 7:30 a.m. The Beef Show begins at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Dog Show at10:00 a.m. Food and Nutrition judging will start at 10:30 a.m. while the Child Development and Interior Design judging will begin at 11:00 a.m. The Cat Show and the Sheep Show begin at 12:00 p.m. Afternoon judging continues with the Goat Show at 12:30 p.m.
The 4-H Federation Pork Chop Barbecue will also be held on Wednesday, July 17th. Meals will be served from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with carry-outs available. Tickets for the barbecue may be purchased in advance. You may contact any Jo Daviess County 4-H Member, the University of Illinois Extension Office, or see us at the Fair for tickets. We hope to serve 1,000 people our delicious Pork Chop Dinner. Wednesday evening culminates with the annual 4-H Livestock Auction beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 18th wraps up the Jo Daviess County 4-H Fair with the 4-H Dairy Show beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Most projects will be on display in the Community Building and on the fairgrounds through early Thursday morning. The 4-H Federation and local 4-H Clubs also operate a Food Stand throughout the Fair, so come out and enjoy the excitement!
